Effective Youth Events
A Section goal and a goal of many hams is to involve young people in amateur radio. Below are youth and radio activities and links to activities that have been successful in Oregon and elsewhere. If you have an activity to share, please contact the section manager, Scott N7JI at ars.n7ji@gmail.com so it can be added here so others might try it in their community.
Girl Scout STEM Day – Done as a large or small scale event where girls do STEM activities that include ham radio activities like electricity, Morse code, ITU phonetics, QSL cards, and making their first contact on the air via a local repeater.
Scouts on the Air – Done as part of local camporees, national jamborees, and world jamborees and summer camp experiences.
Summer Camp Stations – Ham radio stations at youth summer camps. (See funding ideas below.)
